Brian Clough (21 March 1935 – 20 September 2004) was a former Sunderland A.F.C. striker and English football manager. Brian Clough's spell at sunderland lasted from 1961–1964, his playing career ending through a serious injury. Ironically Brian Clough as a manager purchased Roy Keane from Cobh Ramblers. At Forest Brian Clough would often let Keane every so often go back to Ireland to visit his family as he found life living away from home hard his young age.
Brian Clough died of Stomach cancer in 2004 at the age of 69.
