David Connolly (born June 6, 1977 in Willesden, England) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker and is currently unattached to any club. He featured for Sunderland A.F.C. from 2006-2009.
Connolly joined Sunderland on transfer-deadline day on August 2006 from Wigan for 1.4m, he finished the 2006/2007 season Sunderland's top scorer with 13 goals.
The next season Connolly only made one appearance, and suffered heavy setbacks from injury. During the 2008/2009 season he had fell out of interest completely, and was released at the end making no appearances at all.
