Not to be confused with: Farringdon Row

Farringdon is a suburb of Sunderland with a population of around 5000. The suburb is most known for hosting Farringdon Community Sports college, a large state owned comprehensive school. The estate also contains Farringdon Primary school, two pubs, and two shopping arcades. Originally built as a council estate in the 1950's as a mass cleanup and expansion of the city, nowadays a great deal of the homes in have farringdon more or less have all been bought by their residents. The estate also hosts a police station, two shopping arcades and a fire station.

Politically Farringdon does not exsist independently, it is part of the St. Chad's electoral ward which also contains East Herrington. Which means many of the demographics in the area are over shadowed by that of Herrington as a result hiding many of the statistics involving the area.
