Ian Patrick Harte (born August 31, 1977 in Drogheda) is an Irish footballer that featured for Sunderland A.F.C. for just a handful of games in the 2007/2008 season before being released on a free trasnfer.

[edit] Club career

Harte started his career at Irish youth team Home Farm, before moving on to leeds united where he spent 9 seasons, playing 213 games scoring 28 goals including left footed free kicks and penalties which he was renowned for.

He then moved to Spanish club Levante after rumours that he had interest from FC Barcelona and AC Milan for as much as £11,000,000, he was released by Levante at the end of the 2006&2007 season.

Sunderland signed Harte after a trial period, then signing a one year contract,[1] making his first apperarance in the 3-2 defeat at Arsenal. However, his form was no good at sunderland and he found himself dropped by the turn of 2008, his contract was not renewed and he was released at the end of the season.
