Lionel Perez

Lionel Perez (born April 24, 1967 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, France) is a french former Sunderland goalkeeper. He first featured in the 1996/1997 season as a backup keeper who ended up playing most games due to an injury to the first choice keeper. He then featured as first choice keeper during 1997/1998 season. Ironically Perez left sunderland for Newcastle United, where he was third choice keeper to Shay Given and Steve Harper. He did not feature again for sunderland after the 1998 Playoff final, his replacement was Thomas Sorensen.
