Lorik Cana (born on 27 July 1983) is an Albanian footballer. A defensive midfielder, he plays for Sunderland A.F.C. and the Albania national football team. He holds Albanian, French and Swiss citizenship. He carved his reputation as a strong, tenacious tackler and a leader on the field during his stint in France with Olympic Marseille. He joined Sunderland on July 25, in the transfer window 2009/2010 season
Cana is the current captain of Sunderland, having suceeded Dean Whitehead who departed for Stoke on the same day Cana joined the club.
