[edit] Sunderland History

Nyron was brought to sunderland on a free transfer by Mick McCarthy from Gillingham in 2005. Who had been relegated to league one. Nyron was originally intended only to be a backup player and a right full-back, however he was pushed into premiership action after Stephen Wright gained a heavy knee injury. His inexperience of the premiership made his first season there a very bumpy one, as well as sunderland's squad as a whole, the team was relegated with a record low 15 points. Nyron remained with sunderland though.

The next season Nyron had improved dramatically, and became a first choice central defender under Roy Keane. Nyron's consistent brave and solid form led to him being chosen as Sunderland's player of the season for 2007 as sunderland were promoted to the premier division again. He also became part of sunderland's "anti-racism" campaign.

Once again Nyron Nosworthy found himself playing premiership football in 2007/2008 season, and this time round his performances had improved by a fair proportion.

[edit] Chants

The popular chant for Nyron Nosworthy is a re-make of the singer Amy Winehouses song "Rehab". The sunderland version of the song goes.

  • "you try to take the ball past Nyron he says no no no".
